Anupama Das comes from India. She arrived in South Africa a year and a half ago and has settled right down in her world… her world of painting, drawing, sculpting… passions that absorb her, engulf her.
A Fine Arts course in Delhi in 2000 set her working seriously more than ever. Back in Delhi, she has exhibited in several Art Galleries including the prestigious India International Centre, and has also attended numerous workshops at the Delhi College of Art and the Lalit Kala Academy.

Her paintings resonate with rhythm and vibrancy, rendered with a fluid sweeping style and a decorative cadence of shape that exudes graceful and sensuous expressiveness.
Her figurative works reflect the pleasure of capturing the subject matter in their intimate world, doing what they do and being who they are.
Anupama’s work mostly focuses on female forms, where she engages in a conversation between herself and her subject. Her works talk, sing, dance and connect the viewer with one another - personally, spiritually and socially. Most of her works, she says, hope to capture the spirit and soul of the subject matter. She enjoys working on a variety of mediums and trying out different techniques and styles.
According to Anupama, she has been painting as long as she can remember..
